How we will use your personal information
If you are applying for a vacancy or registering your interest in working for the Lloyds Banking Group, we will collect certain information about you to enable us to process your application. Under the Data Protection Act 1998 you are entitled to know how we intend to use your personal information.
We will keep your personal details in Lloyds Banking Group databases. We will use and retain for as long as necessary the information you give us as part of the application process to allow us to consider your application and thereafter in connection with any employment relationship we or other companies in the Lloyds Banking Group have with you.
When assessing your application automated decision making systems may be used.
The information you provide may be used to obtain references from your current and previous employers. We will not contact your current employer until you have accepted a position with us.
With your consent, we may carry out searches at the Credit Reference Agencies (which will include information from the edited electoral roll) to help us verify your application details including any financial information you have disclosed. This search will provide information about you and anyone financially linked to you. However, we will only consider information relating to you when making any decision about your employment. This search may be recorded by the credit reference agencies but it will not be used by other lenders or insurers when assessing lending and insurance risks, although it may be used for debt tracing and to prevent money laundering.
If you ask, we will tell you which credit reference agencies we have used so that you can obtain a copy of your details from them.
Crime Prevention and Detection
We may also check your details with fraud prevention agencies. If false or inaccurate information is provided and fraud is identified, details will be passed to fraud prevention agencies. Law enforcement agencies may access and use this information. We and other organisations may also access and use this information to prevent fraud and money laundering, for example, when:

Sometimes we obtain services from countries outside Europe (such as India and the USA) that do not always have the same standard of Data Protection Laws as the United Kingdom. However, we will have the necessary controls and contracts in place to ensure that your information is protected and we will remain bound by our obligations under the Data Protection Act.
We will not disclose your information outside Lloyds Banking Group without your consent, unless there is a legal obligation to do so or we believe that failure to disclose, in a particular instance, is likely to prejudice the prevention or detection of crime.
If you email us, or give us your email address, we will keep a record of it. We will not give your email address to any unauthorised third parties.
Please remember that email is not a secure method of communication and messages could be intercepted and altered without the knowledge of the sender or recipient. Cookies do lots of different jobs, like letting you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences, and generally improve the user experience. They can also ensure that adverts you see online are more relevant to you and your interests.
The cookies used on this web site can be categorised in the following ways.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the web site and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the web site. Without these cookies services you have asked for, such as shopping baskets or e-billing, cannot be provided. These cookies don’t gather information about you that could be used for marketing or remembering where you've been on the internet.
These cookies collect information about how visitors use a web site, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages. These cookies don't collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is anonymous and is only used to improve how a web site works.
By using our web site you agree that we can place these types of cookies on your device.
These cookies allow the web site to remember choices you make (such as your user name, language or the region you are in) and provide enhanced features. For instance, a web site may be able to provide you with local weather reports or traffic news by storing in a cookie the region in which you are currently located. These cookies can also be used to remember changes you have made to text size, font and other parts of web pages that you can customise. They may also be used to provide services you have requested such as watching a video or commenting on a blog. The information these cookies collect may be anonymised and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.
When you allow cookies for this site, you agree that we can place functionality cookies on your device.
These cookies collect several pieces of information about your browsing habits. They are usually placed by advertising networks rather than web site operators. They remember that you have visited a web site and this information is shared with other organisations such as advertisers. These organisations do this in order to provide you with targeted adverts more relevant to you and your interests. Quite often targeting cookies will be linked to site functionality provided by the other organisation. Without these cookies, online advertisements you encounter will be less relevant to you and your interests.
Specific Cookies used on this site
The following Google Analytics cookies are used on this site:
1.) The '__utma' Cookie:
This cookie is what’s called a “persistent” cookie as it never expires. This cookie keeps track of the number of times a visitor has been to the site pertaining to the cookie, when their first visit was, and when their last visit occurred.
2.) The '__utmb' and '__utmc' Cookies:
__utmb takes a timestamp of the exact moment in time when a visitor enters a site, while __utmc takes a timestamp of the exact moment in time when a visitor leaves a site. __utmb expires at the end of the session. __utmc waits 30 minutes, and then it expires. __utmc has no way of knowing when a user closes their browser or leaves a website, so it waits 30 minutes for another pageview to happen, and if it doesn’t, it expires.
3.) The '__utmz' Cookie:
__utmz keeps track of where the visitor came from, what search engine you used, what link you clicked on, what keyword you used, and where they were in the world when you accessed a website. It expires in 6 months. This cookie is how Google Analytics knows to whom and to what source / medium / keyword to assign the credit for a Goal Conversion or an Ecommerce Transaction. __utmz also lets you edit its length with a simple customization to the Google Analytics Tracking code.
The following Lloyds Banking Group cookie is used on this site:
1.) 'Allow-Cookies' Cookie:
The sole purpose of this cookie is to inform us if any of the above cookies have been accepted. It expires after 1 year.
In the event that your application is unsuccessful, your details will be retained for 6 months, at which time they will be confidentially destroyed.
If you have applied for a speculative vacancy to our candidate pool, your application will be held on record for 6 months. We will contact you at 6 months to see if you wish to remain in our candidate pool. You may remove your details yourself at any time.
Right of Access to Personal Data
Under the Data Protection Act, you have the right of access to your personal data. The Act allows us to charge a fee of £10 for this service. If anything is inaccurate, please let us know and we will correct it.
